About GITG
Gig in the Garden is an annual outdoor music event in Liphook, Hampshire. The event takes place in the grounds of The Royal Anchor pub.
GITG is organised by local audio visual provider Ben Lawrance (BCL Technical Ltd). The idea was born from the success of Live 8. After a booze fuelled discussion, Ben was set a challenge to bring the magic and atmosphere of a live music event to Liphook. That was back in 2005, and since then there have been five GITG - the 6th will take place this August.
GITG has delivered a quality line-up of bands over the last five years, with acts having included Damn Dirty Humans, Fay Wray and Mr Kamikaze. To find out more about the previous years see the links n the menu bar. Since its inception, BCL Technical Ltd have provided industry-standard professional sound setup, and top quality staging to make for a well-run, fun event.
All profit from GITG goes to charity, with the event having raised over thousand pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice Services at Home. This year's chosen charity is the Liphook Carnival Fund. We think that Karen and her team put so much effort into making the carnival happen each year, we decided that we should help out.
The 2010 event takes place on Saturday 7th August 2010 from 6pm... with 5 concerts now under our belt, we are confident that GITG will
continue to provide the local community with a source of entertainment,
and a way to raise money for charity, for many years to come.
Entry to the event is by wristband - you can purchase a wristband in advance from The Royal Anchor for £5, or purchase one on the door on the day for £7. The full line up has yet to be announced, but it is rumoured to include one of ITV's Pop Idols.
